Jamaica Gleaner Letters

Letter of the day - The police force needs adequate protective gear
THE EDITOR, Sir: I wish you and all the members of staff at The Gleaner Company a blessed and peaceful Christmas. Of all the arguments we are hearing nowadays, the one in the forefront is about crime and violence. The other issue is about the police.

Caribbean Terrace wants answers

The Editor, Sir: Quite recently, November 29, Prime Minister Golding, on a political platform in St. Ann's Bay, cited a stop order on hurricane relief. He indicated that the Hon. Mike Henry had pointed out irregularities at Portland Cottage. I, myself, would like answers on how Hurricane Ivan's matters were handled in our Caribbean Terrace community in Kingston.

Appreciate the comments, but get the facts

The Editor, Sir: I note with some interest, recent deductions by Gleaner columnist Dawn Ritch, relating to assumed differences between myself and Prime Minister, the Hon. Bruce Golding.

Jamaica needs external help

THE EDITOR, Sir: Violence seems to be an endemic Jamaican problem. Visiting the island over 40 times in 52 years, it has the imprint of socioeconomic imbalance. Before leaving for Jamaica, friends asked - why Jamaica, there is too much killing going on there.

There's hope this Christmas

THE EDITOR, Sir: The theme of this letter is Christmas. As the saying goes, "Once there is life, there is hope". This means that once there is life, we have the opportunity to change for the better. Let us not make this opportunity slip away from us.
