Several visitors who arrived in the island to enjoy the Christmas holidays are experiencing a nightmare after most of their luggage went missing.

One of the visitors, who arrived on a Spirit Airlines flight on Wednesday, only received one piece of her four pieces of luggage up to yesterday.

Richard Nicholson, a resident of South Carolina, his wife and children have been here since Thursday, but up to yesterday, they were yet to receive their eight pieces of luggage.

Mr. Nicholson explained that his flight was due to leave Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday, but when they got to the departure gate, along with other passengers, they were told that the flight was closed and there was no more space on the aircraft.

After a dramatic experience, they were sent on another flight the following day.

When they arrived at the Norman Manley International Airport, their luggage was nowhere to be found, so they went back on Friday and yesterday but are yet to find any of their luggage.

'It's like a warehouse in there," Nicholson said of the luggage which was piled up at the airport.

"This is the first time I am travelling with them (Spirit Airlines), and I have never seen anything like this," he said.
