Year-end prayer
published: Thursday | December 27, 2007

The Editor, Sir:

As the year comes to a close there is much to give God thanks for. He has kept us alive and not allowed us to fall (See Psalms 66:9). As we reflect on the past year, we realize that there is much to pray about; the crime and violence was terrible. There is need for a real transformation of man's heart. This cannot be done by giving jobs. People need to realize that sin is a terrible thing. It is very destructive.

The only way to change is to realise that God is able to change us if we are willing to do His will. He will give us the willpower and a new mindset which, in turn, will transform our way of life. We must be willing to repent and to admit that we were doing what was wrong.

Turn over a new leaf

We need to know who God is. God is Love. (See 1st John 4:8) He is the One who created the heavens and the earth and we are answerable to him. We need to have a heart to do his will; and doing all of this, we should get baptized and have our sins washed away (See Acts 22:16).

Let us turn over a new leaf. Let this be our resolution for 2008. May God bless us all as we make this decision!

I am, etc.,
