NOTE-WORTHY: No to martyrdom!
published: Friday | December 28, 2007

No to martyrdom!

Today, I read an article where someone bemoaned the cold and callous society Jamaica had become, as he spoke at the funeral of yet another murdered police officer.

He stated that he wished to know where were the Jamaicans who would protest the murder of innocent Jamaicans. He should know that many of the nearly 2.5 million Jamaicans who live outside of the country agree with him. The criminals and politicians who support their actions need to know this: The Jamaica that you foolishly destroy for the ones who love it, is also the Jamaica that is being destroyed for you and your own.

Being a violent animal does not make you Jamaican; it just makes you a bully who will achieve nothing and be nothing more than an idiot destroying yourself and your nation. I want to come home and bring my abilities and wealth with me. But at what cost? I do not wish to be a martyr at your foolish hands.

Labour needs time

I am a Jamaican living in Ontario, Canada. Ever since this government took office, we can't give them time. The People's national Party (PNP) got all the time in this world, but they messed up badly. PNP must not think that they are good for Jamaica and that Jamaica is PNP country. Labour can do good things for Jamaica. I am a concerned Jamaican. Labour needs time too.

Enough is enough

I have read in the newspaper all sorts of plans - such as jobs and education - to reduce crime in Jamaica. These are good long-term solutions that will take a few generations to bear fruit. What we need now is the doctrine of 'an eye for an eye; a tooth for a tooth'. These gun-slinging murdering individuals need to be shot after being taken into custody, and executed at a government institution like the Gun Court in Kingston.

If you are caught or even seen with a firearm that is not licensed, then you should forfeit your rights as a law-abiding citizen. Death to these murderous thugs! No trial, no human rights! Murder the murderers! Enough is enough!
