From literature provided by Luke Lee, farm manager at Jamaica Floral Exports, one of the participants at the IICA-sponsored workshop:
A greenhouse is a structure which provides protection to grow plants or crops. It is, however, categorised differently from just any structure that provides a simple covering. It has the following features: glazing material; automatic environmental control; temperature or relative humidity ventilation.
It has a scientific orientation and seeks to utilise specially configured levels of fertilisers, pest control and applications to guarantee higher levels of yields, both in volume and quality.
