Lessons from Rosie's story
published: Tuesday | January 1, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

The Flair piece about Rosie was beautiful. I find that people don't understand that when a person gets the HIV virus they have to go through all she described. Hence, they don't understand and act insensitively. I pray that men read this and understand that they should keep their thing in their pants. Your wife should be all you need at the end of the day. Your desires may increase, tell her if its the weight, the constant same old, same old. She is your wife she deserves to know.

Some men says it's not easy, but I got married at the age of 19 and I am now 26. I cheated twice, had the courage to tell my wife. Took an HIV test after both encounters and the wait for the results were stifling. Thank God, they were negative. I decided that the pressure was too great. I gave my wife the choice of leaving or working it out with me; she worked it out. I never cheated again, imagine if the wait for the results were that terrible, what if you got a positive result. I thank God I was lucky!

It was 50/50 for both women. Every time you have sex with a woman out of marriage its half a chance your life will be ruined forever. Don't ruin your beautiful wife's life as well. She is the woman that stood by you, you should be filling her with love. Speak to your women, men. The love and respect I have for my wife have no bounds. Just knowing she is proud and supports all that I do. I wish that for all of you.

I am, etc.,

T.
