Adrian Strachan
published: Wednesday | January 2, 2008

They may find someone who is as good as, but hardly better than, Adrian Strachan to fill the role of Auditor General. Mr. Strachan, 63, has retired.

The difficulty is not with the technical skills. That, really, is the easy part. Where it comes harder is finding someone of uncompromising integrity.

In his more than 28 years in the post, Mr. Strachan has displayed an understated toughness and independence of mind. He has been totally unflappable.

Mr. Strachan's reports, whether routine reviews or special investigations, have sought and presented the facts without fear or favour. And he has been fair.

We wish Adrian Strachan well in his future endeavours. Jamaica could use more like him.
