ST GEORGE'S, Grenada (CMC):Off-spinner Shane Shillingford snared a six-wicket haul, finishing with figures of six for 66 off 27 overs with nine maidens, to help the Windward Islands stifle the Leeward Islands batting on the opening day of their Carib Beer Series match yesterday.
Electing to bat, the Leewards struggled to post a modest total of 201 and the Windwards reached 71 for three in reply at stumps in a tense battle between the two first-round losers at the Grenada National Stadium.
Hyron Shallow (10) and night-watchman Denis George, yet to score, were at the crease at the end with the Windwards moving to within 130 runs of the LeewardsÕ total with seven wickets standing.
