Backing the security forces
published: Wednesday | January 16, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

Kudos to Dr. Phillips for supporting the security forces unequivocally. I am an expatriate who now lives in the States; nevertheless, it grieves me to read The Gleaner online due to the barbaric nature of some of Jamaica's citizens.

These criminals have committed some of the most heinous crimes against humanity and since Jamaica has not been imposing the death penalty, at least to put the fear of God in these brutes, then the security forces have no other choice but to deal with them as they have dealt with those whom they have killed.

Take back Jamaica

I was reared in Hanover. We did not have much, however, we did not pick up guns to rob, maim, and murder people. I don't need cynical people telling me that if only these criminals have education, jobs, etc., they could be reformed. There are many poor people in the world today, even in the industrialised nations, but they do not go out and try to create havoc. I say to the Prime Minister, order the security forces to take back every square inch of Jamaica from these ruthless criminals and people will adore you; especially those who are abroad who want to come home or to visit, but are afraid of the lawlessness that is reigning.

The Bible says, "Wickedness proceedeth from the wicked. (1 Sam. 24:13)" And God said: "For I will not justify the wicked. (Ex 23:7) May God give the security forces the courage and the resolution to fight this cancerous element they are up against.

I am, etc.,

O. BARR
