Gospel roleas aftermath
published: Tuesday | January 22, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

The confession of Detective Constable Carey Lyn-Sue, that he fabricated evidence against accused murder suspect Jason James, is, indeed, commendable.

However, his confession should follow with his resignation from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF). This would be the right and proper thing to do.

His colleagues, 'Cops for Christ' led by the president Sgt. Dalton Scott, also commend Constable Lyn-Sue for his honesty, but thinks the suspension is too harsh and will deter others from coming forward.

I find this statement by Mr. Scott to be very offensive and disturbing.

This is a common response by some of these 'Jesus men' who think because they confess and receive Jesus they should be given a slack.

Confessing and receiving Jesus also come with responsibility.

Role model afterwards

Constable Lyn-Sue is no coward and is prepared to meet and suffer the consequences of his action. If that includes incar-ceration, he would be a role model afterwards and an example for 'truth and justice'.

The truth is he will be in a position to make more money from preaching the gospel than he would ever earn in the JCF. As one that truly falls from grace, he will be used as a vessel to draw more people to Christ.

Contrary to what Sgt. Scott thinks, this will encourage more people in the JCF to come forward, confessing their sins if, indeed, they commit acts that are contrary to their oaths of office.

I am, etc.,
