No-result, but T&T upbeat
published: Tuesday | January 22, 2008

PORT-OF-SPAIN (CMC):

Manager of the Trinidad and Tobago team, Omar Khan, has remained confident his side can lift the Carib Beer title despite their no-result against the Leeward Islands in round three of the tournament.

Soggy conditions forced the abandonment of the third round match on the fourth day at the Carib Lumber Park in St. Maarten yesterday and both teams earned four points each.

Similar conditions had also forced the abandonment of the third day's play on Sunday and allowed only 23 minutes of action on Saturday. T&T reached 178 for four after losing the toss and being asked to bat on the opening day.

"We are obviously disappointed that the game ended in the way it did but that is part and parcel of the game and we have to accept that," Khan said.

T&T now have 16 points from two matches, while Jamaica lead the standings with 36 points from three outright wins.

"We have to go out there and try to win the remaining four matches in order to ensure that we win the championship," Khan said.
