The National Housing Trust has stated that the unavailability of land in the Corporate Area makes it difficult for affordable housing to be created for the mid-income earner.
However, the Corporate Area is riddled with persons who are squatting on lands that could provide viable real estate.
While middle-income earners are asked to bear the cost of consumers' 'basic expenses' (i.e. stolen light, stolen water, traffic, light, taxation for food and entertainment), they are also burdened with the additional expense and risks that stem from commuting.
I'd like to suggest that some of these lands be reclaimed! There must be some way to take back these lands for redevelopment.
I am by no means suggesting these consumers be scraped up and relocated, but perhaps some temporary accom-modation (three years) can be provided as part of a reintroduction plan, whereby these persons arere-established into the social framework.

Port Royal island?
The airport road is in a deplorable condition and should be attended to immediately.
I am a teen resident in the Port Royal community and if the road breaks, there is no other way or means to get out of Port Royal unless you are a owner of a boat because the ferry is no longer in service.
The National Works Agency should address this matter, because high tides will eventually engulf the road and Port Royal will become an island.

Brave woman
I would like to congratulate the woman from Spring Gardens, Buff Bay, Portland, for rescuing three drowning men two weeks ago, after the vehicle they were travelling in plunged into the sea.
Although a fourth man died,I think she did a great job in rescuing the others.
Her bravery is worthy of recognition and I hope she will be justly rewarded.
