Defending champions Eltham and Wolmer's Boys recorded impressive victories in the Inter-secondary Schools' Sports Association (ISSA)/Grace Shield cricket competition over Tarrant and Spanish Town, respectively, on Tuesday.

Eltham defeated Spanish Town by 108 runs, and Wolmer's whipped Tarrant by 131 runs.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Eltham made 216 for five declared, with leading contributions from Shawn Harris (70), Kino-Paul Salesman (40), Joseph Dennis (34) and Shane Harris (24). Richard Russell (3-61) and Johnil March (2 -49) got the wickets for Spanish Town.

In reply, Spanish Town were skittled out for 108, with Fredrick Hermitt taking (5-27) and Kavin Bonner (3-35). Junior Morrison (37) and Richard Green (29) scored most runs for Spanish Town.

"It was a good all-round performance from my team today," said Eltham's coach Oral Simpson. "I think we did well in all departments of the game because we won the toss and our opening batsmen gave us a good start.

"The guys are really focused now and they are really playing good cricket at the moment and we can only get better form here on," Simpson explained.

Wolmers' made 254 for four declared with Mario Downer (72), Corey Richmond (61) and Renaldo Morgan (52 not out) scoring half centuries.

Tarrant were bowled out for 123, as Delbert Gayle took six for 34 and Vaughn Archibald four for 41.
