Jamaica warm up for Bermuda
published: Saturday | February 2, 2008

KINGSTON (CMC):

Bermuda will play three practice matches here, starting this weekend at Sabina Park, as they intensify their preparations for the Stanford Twenty20 tournament.

On the trip, which runs from February 2-7, Bermuda will play their first match against Jamaica's Twenty20 national team tomorrow before tackling a Jamaica Development squad on Tuesday at the Melbourne Cricket Club.

Their final match, before heading to Antigua for their opening Stanford Twenty20 match on February 10, will be against Police Club at Elliston Road. All matches begin at 1:00 p.m.

The Jamaica side is expected to include West Indies captain Chris Gayle, who returned home early from the tour of South Africa because of injury.

Former Jamaica coach Robert Haynes will be in charge of the Bermuda squad, in the absence of Gus Logie, who will be travelling to Malaysia with the Bermuda Under-19 team for the ICC Under-19 World Cup.

big impact

The Jamaica team for tomorrow's match will be chosen from the squad which leaves on Monday to play their first Stanford match next Wednesday against The Bahamas.

Bermuda will be captained by Irving Romaine and includes off-spinner Dwayne Leverock who made a big impact in last year's Stanford Twenty20 tournament and the Cricket World Cup.
