T&T pros back for friendly
published: Saturday | February 2, 2008

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad

(CMC):

Trinidad and Tobago have announced their 20-man squad, including several of their overseas-based stars, for next Wednesday's friendly inter-national against Guadeloupe at the Queen's Park Oval.

The list is headed by Sunderland star Kenwyne Jones and includes Southampton striker Stern John and prolific Swansea City striker Jason Scotland.

Wrexham's Silvio Spann, Toronto FC's Collin Samuel, Walsall goalkeeper Clayton Ince, Chicago Fire's Osei Telesford and Ujpest FC's Densill Theobald complete the overseas pros in the team.

Blend of players

With the exception of Theobald who is already in the country, the overseas pros are expected to arrive tomorrow.

Assistant coach Anton Corneal said he was looking forward to the blend of the overseas-based pros and the local players.

"I hope that it is a nice blend because they have not been here for a while. They (overseas pros) have a new bunch of players behind them because a lot of them are coming in here as front-runners," Corneal said. "We hope to continue this with the other games coming up. The message is that the World Cup is around the corner. I hope we can give entertaining football to the public and, hopefully, have a good start to the year for us."

It will be the first time overseas-based players will be representing the national team since the pay dispute with the local federation over World Cup monies.
