Prowlers chased from Seaga's residence
published: Saturday | February 9, 2008

Seaga

Quick thinking by a policeman on duty at the private residence of former Prime Minister Edward Seaga scared off two prowlers who had gained access to cars on the property.

According to police reports early Friday morning, the men obtained entry to the residence and found their way into two vehicles, which had been inadvertently left unlocked.

The men were in the process of ransacking the vehicles when the policeman on duty was alerted and went to investigate. Two men then rushed from the vehicles and the officer discharged his weapon. The men, however, made their escape over walls on to adjoining premises.

A subsequent search of the area yielded no one. No injuries were reported by the police. The Matilda's Corner police are investigating.

Seaga was prime minister of Jamaica from 1980-1989 and served over 40 years in politics.
