Seba whip Reno 4-1
published: Saturday | February 9, 2008

Richard Bryan, Freelance Writer

SEBA EASILY handed Reno a 4-1 spanking at STETHS, on Thursday, to end the second round of the Cash Plus Premier League (CPPL) on a high.

The game was effectively settled in the first half when Seba overcame the concession of an Obrian Woodbine goal in the 18th minute to net three - virtually unchallenged - goals in the remaining 15 minutes of the first half for a 3-1 lead via the efforts of Kemar Mills (28th), Delroy Ellis (36th) and Omar Reid (45th).

Later, they would find another through substitute Donovan Peart (81st) against Reno's desperate push in the second half and the red-card loss of Nicholy Findlayson in the 79th minute.

The win pushed Seba to 29 points and a three-way tie with Boys' Town and newcomers St Georges. Reno have been pegged back on 24 points, precariously perched above August Town (21) and Village (19) near the relegation zone.

Late start

The game started much later than normal due to the late finish of a female football game between Lacovia and St Elizabeth Technical.

Reno, desperate to shake off the lurking presence of the two teams favoured for relegation, began the game with promise as wing back Woodbine rose high to head home a good cross from his left-side teammate Dwyane Foster.

That Reno attacking move proved to be an attacking anomaly as Seba capitalised on the inexperience of Reno's unstable and inexperienced backline.

Missing was Everton Palmer, who now controls the defensive third for Seba, Dwayne 'Robot' Williams who has gone back overseas, and Patrick Graham, who is injured.

Reno were further hurt by the absence of Kendrick Quarrie while the usual bustling Fabian 'Lexus' Blake played largely unfocussed.
