Love is a Funny Little Thing

A full house of comedians will tell their many tales about love and relationships at The Gleaner-sponsored Love is a Funny Little Thing that will be held at Backyaad, tomorrow at 8:00 p.m.

This Valentine's Day event will feature a host of popular comedians including Volier 'Mafi' Johnson, Elva, Christopher 'Johnny' Daley, Miss Kitty and Comedy Buss winner for 2007 Dwight Samuels.

Coleen Lewis, of Si Wi Yah Entertainment which is organising the show, says it will be an exciting one as it will feature some of the best local comedians. She says they will each have a set in which they will thrill the audience. However, the show will climax with a risqué group discussion on relationship, sex, marriage, break-ups, cheating and love.

The unique nature of the show is emphasised by Miss Lewis who believes that people can laugh about anything, including love. "Si Wi Yah produced Comedy Buss and we are being challenged to bring comedy in a way that people are not accustomed to seeing. There are many producers of comedy shows and we feel obliged to do something that is outside the box," she says.

A different spin

She says the comedians will each bring a different spin on the issue. Volier Johnson will provide a bit of bar talk while Johnny will show that he is no longer the boy from Lime Tree Lane.

The female perspective will not be left out as both Elva and Miss Kitty will bring their take on the issue of love. Though young in the business, Dwight Samuels will not be outdone as he will showcase his creative skills.

"What better time for them to talk about love than on Valentine's," Miss Lewis says.

Elva is also excited about the Valentine's Day show. Like other issues, Elva also believes that love is a funny thing.

"Everything in life is funny. It's when you get too serious that you get the heart attack and stroke," she says.
