Cops play dirty, so what?
published: Wednesday | February 13, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

The ending of the three-part saga of the 'car-stealing ring and dirty cops', published Sunday through Tuesday, was not enough. it leaves many questions unanswered. Like, what happen to the dirty cops mentioned in the story? If so much information is known, what happen to the members of the car-stealing ring? What measures have been put in place at the Inland Revenue Department to stop these perpetrators of the law from processing these fraudulent documents?

Many of us as Jamaicans have theorised that this car-stealing ring, among other illegal activities, involves many prominent, ingenious, cunning people. They seem to have a link with all the relevant institutions that can influence and maintain their existence; but, at what level, we do not know.

If nothing has been done, the story only made a good headline, just a novel experience and may have sharpened somebody's investigative journalism skills; but, that is not enough for the reputation of our country and police force. It is obvious that the extensive research put into this saga means that more can be done to interrupt the lives of these merciless thugs.

Cops play dirty! so what? Who can stop them? We hear and read about dirty cops so often we need more than stories; we need solution, we need counteraction.

I am, etc.,

Concerned Citizen
