Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) scrapping express service
published: Wednesday | February 13, 2008

Come next Monday commuters will pay less for express service on Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) buses due to a decision by the company's management to discontinue the bus service.

Lenworth Simms, marketing and sales manager at the JUTC, told The Gleaner on Monday that there is no fare reduction, but instead a decision by the company to withdraw the express bus service.

"This was done in light of the fact that many of our customers were unable to afford a $60 or $80 bus fare," he said. "The main aim was really to improve and expand our service and make available more affordable buses on certain routes."

Simms said this means commuters will be traveling in more comfort for a lower price, as the buses will still have air conditioning and other amenities.
