Carolyn Tomlinson's Sensual Experience created for the Love Potion for my Valentine competition.
Love was in the mix when contestants, for Food's Wray and Nephew Rum Cream Love Potion for my Valentine contest, blended an elixir they believe is sure to get a lover in the mood.
Participants were required to submit recipes with Wray & Nephew Rum Cream as the main ingredient throughout. They were also required to include other ingredients commonly associated with love and seduction like chocolate, strawberries or grapes.
The entrants were narrowed down to 10 finalists; however, only seven persons showed up for the mix-off on Monday at Acropolis Restaurant and Bar. The competition, however, was stiff, with finalists whipping out exotic ingredients like boiled jackfruit seeds, gymbilyn, bananas and toasted peanuts, some of which the judges found appetising. With seductive names like: Mocha Jack, Banana Rum Cream Smoothie, Love Potion Number Nine, Sensual Experience, Chocolate Vanilla Sunrise, Tantaliser and Seduction, they worked their magic for the three judges.
Judges were Julian Walker, customer relations and entertainment managers, and Andre Miller, bar supervisor, both from Acropolis as well as Barbara Ellington, the Gleaner's Lifestyle editor. Carefully monitoring the proceedings on behalf of the sponsors were Andrew Pryce, brand communications and promotions manager, and Romario Samuels, brand assistant, Wray & Nephew Rum Cream.
Perfect balance
Judges graded the contestants on recipe originality, taste, creativity/presentation and the 'want more factor'. They paid particular attention that a perfect balance existed between the rum cream and the other ingredients.
The first-place winner was Stacie Little who will walk away $20,000 cash and $10,000 worth of Wray and Nephew products for her recipe, Seduction. Second prize went to Chevanese Parker Ashley for Chocolate Vanilla Sunrise and she will get $15,000 cash and Wray and Nephew products valued at $10,000. Third place went to Melverlyn DaCosta Lynch for Tantaliser. She will receive $10,000 cash and $10,000 worth of Wray and Nephew products.
Why not let one of the top three recipes ignite the fire of your lover tonight?
