Boat used in Bartica slayings recovered?
published: Wednesday | February 20, 2008

GEORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC):

Security forces say they have recovered a speedboat apparently used by unidentified gunmen in the attack on the small mining town of Bartica on Sunday night that resulted in the death of 13 people, including three policemen.

They said that the boat, along with a quantity of ammunition and military-type clothing, had been found on Essequibo River, 20 miles from Bartica.

Joint police and army patrols had been searching the area for the gunmen and came across the wooden speedboat carrying a 75-horse-power engine drifting amid the rough waters at Saint Mary, another hinterland community 20 miles from Bartica.
