Carnival cover-up
published: Friday | March 7, 2008

Tanya C Ellis, Freelance Writer

Body art is a feature of the new carnival season.

Modesty in any form has never really been a word associated with the carnival.

And now, brothers Eon and Robby Williams are perfecting carnival fun and excitement through distinctively creative body art.

The full or half body spray paint designs give the impression that paint is sprayed directly on to the model's body. However, the designs are usually done over a swimwear or a body suit.

Throw caution to the wind

"Carnival is about having fun and letting go," Robby told The Gleaner "Those who would normally be worried about love handles and the undefined waist throw caution to the wind and just have fun."

He said this absence of social reservation adds to his creative freedom since he gets to work with revelers of different shapes and sizes.

The brothers say they were encouraged by their mother to paint children's faces during the Christmas season, just over six years ago, as a means of making extra money. Later, they explored a greater variety of styles and colours.

Lucrative contract

Through self-promotion at different blow-out fetes, the brothers have secured a creative collaboration with Honda in an advertising bid to promote both brands.

"This is a new venture for us, because we know that corporate sponsorship adds to the structural impact of carnival and our designs, so this is the way we would love to move forward for future events." Robby said.
