BRENDAN NASH'S maiden regional first-class century helped Jamaica to first-innings honours over Trinidad and Tobago in their top-of-the-table Carib Beer clash last Sunday.
Nash, who was born in Australia and first turned out for Jamaica in last year's KFC Cup one-day tournament, completed his century on Sunday after resuming on 96 with his team on 330 for eight.
He achieved the landmark with a boundary through square-leg off pacer Ravi Rampaul before falling to the same bowler for 102. His knock came in 291 minutes off 197 balls and included 13 fours, which helped Jamaica to 345, replying to Trinidad's 257.
Earlier, on the second day, Nash and Danza Hyatt (72) rescued Jamaica from a precarious 102 for three with a 117-run fourth wicket stand at the Queen's Park Oval ground. On that day, Nash batted for 266 minutes and faced 177 balls, hitting 13 fours. He also shared in a 38-run, ninth-wicket stand with Daren Powell (27).
It was for this performance that Nash was named The Gleaner's Top Performer of the Week.
