Meadhaven, Bull Bay ingiant clash
published: Saturday | March 8, 2008

Keisha Hill, Staff Reporter

Super League leaders Meadhaven United will face Bull Bay in a top-of-the-table clash at Michigan Oval in the Kingston and St. Andrew Football Association/Victoria Mutual Building Society competition today, starting at 3:30 p.m.

Meadhaven have been in terrific form all season and continue to dominate the standings with a 10-point lead on 39.

Poised to win

Following their 2-1 victory over Santos at Bell Chung Oval last week, Meadhaven seem poised to capture the championship title for the second consecutive year with five games left to go in the round.

Bull Bay are in hot pursuit, holding second place on 28. Victory today will be crucial to their championship aspirations and the additional threat of third place Jamaica Defence Force (JDF), hot on their heels on 27.

The JDF will host Santos at Up Park Camp in what is expected to be a tough encounter.

Santos are still reeling from their defeat against Meadhaven last week and will have to pull out all the stops in order to ambush the army men.

Other encounters

In other games, Duhaney Park will host Police National, Constant Spring will travel to Rockfort and Mountain View will entertain Cavalier at Constant Spring.

In Major League action, group leaders Real Mona on 37 points will face seventh place Barbican (15) at Barbican, second place Liguanea United (29) will tackle UTech (10) at Jamaica College and Rae Town (19) will tackle Brown's Town (7).

Swallowfield (16) will host Cooreville Gardens at Stadium East, Central Kingston (12) will battle Olympic Gardens (17) at Winchester Park and Greenwich Town will face Seaview Gardens (17).

Port Royal have stretched their lead to 23 points in the Syd Bartlett League. They have a top-of-the-table clash with Meadforest (15).

Island Special Constabulary Force (14) will play Molynes United (15) at Molynes, Shortwood United (15) will tackle Maxfield Park (15) at Shortwood School and bottom-of-the-table New Kingston (7) will play Pembroke Hall (12) at Molynes, starting at 1:00 p.m.

All matches are scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
