Tivoli hunt victory
published: Saturday | March 8, 2008

The Jamaica Netball Association (JNA)/Berger Paints Super League competition heats up today with four matches at the Leila Robinson Courts.

In the day's feature, Open rally champions Tivoli Gardens 'A' will oppose Molynes United 'A', starting at 7:30 p.m. Also at the same time, Jetsetters 'A' oppose Windalco and at 5:00 p.m., Arnett Gardens face Tivoli Gardens 'B'. The game between Police 'A' and Waulgrovians 'A' have been postponed.

Tivoli Gardens, who won the rally last Saturday, will be seeking their second consecutive win of the season following their 61-31 thrashing over Arnett Gardens in their opening match on Thursday.

Sylvester Campbell, coach of Tivoli Gardens 'A', said: "It is going to be a nice game because I saw them playing against Waulgrovians and they looked pretty decent in some areas.

"I know that we have the edge over them because of our experience and we are also a seasoned campaigner," added Campbell.

Main players

Goal shooter Cleopatra Grant, national goal defence Kasey Evering and goal attack Marvetta Murray are Tivoli's main players.

Molynes were beaten 51-39 by Waulgrovians 'A' in their opening game on Thursday.

Despite the loss, Roy Price, coach of Molynes United, said his team is gearing up for another big challenge.

"It is going to be another tough game for us but I know the ladies are up for it because in our opening game against Waulgrovians they showed a lot of fighting spirit and character.

"We have the youngest member of the national senior team in Christina Solmon who will be leading our attack and we are expecting great things from her."

He added: "However, the rest of the team is playing well at the moment even though we don't have a lot of star players like the rest of teams in the competition.

"Our plans is counteract their style of play because we know that they are a fast-playing team and so we want to make sure that we slow down the game as much as possible and try to convert our scoring chances," Price explained.

Apart from Solmon, Molynes will be looking to goal defence Lassania Mattis and centre Nickeisha Porter to lead their charge.
