CAVE HILL, Barbados (CMC):
Trinidad & Tobago moved into second place in the Carib Beer Series when they completed a nine-wicket victory over Combined Campuses & Colleges yesterday.
Chasing a modest 36 for victory, T&T reached their target about an hour after the lunch interval. The victory propels T&T to 43 points and into second place - one point in front of fierce rivals Barbados, whom they face in the final round of matches from March 28 to 31 at Guaracara Park in south Trinidad.
The CCC remain on 15 points and sixth place.
T&T, leading by 240 runs on first innings, had dismissed CCC for 275 in their second innings about 10 minutes after lunch. Old-stager Floyd Reifer was the only CCC batsman to offer any kind of prolonged resistance, when he became the third batsman to score a half-century in the innings with a knock of 64 that contained half-dozen fours and one six from 133 balls in 2-3/4 hours.
The rest of the CCC batting crumbled to the bowling of Ravi Rampaul, who was named Man of the Match, Richard Kelly and Amit Jaggernauth. Rampaul captured three wickets for 51 runs from 19 overs, Kelly snared three for 64 from 19 overs, and Amit Jaggernauth collected three for 88 from 34 overs.
AT ST THOMAS, US Virgin Islands: Leeward Islands, trailing Guyana by 211 runs, reached 160 for eight at the close on the third day of their sixth-round rain-affected match at the Addelita Cancryn Ground yesterday.
