Keyshia Cole - file
Grammy award-nominated R&B sensation Keyshia Cole will be performing live at the Gleaner-sponsored Miss Jamaica Universe coronation show on April 12 at the National Indoor Sports Centre.
Pageant producers confirmed that the starlet would indeed be in the island to perform some of her chart-topping hits.
A striking mix of sugar, spice, sexiness and sass, Keyshia Cole burst on the music scene with a powerhouse album The Way It Is in 2005. From this album, Cole belted hits such as I Just Want It To Be Over, I Changed My Mind, I Should Have Cheated and her greatest solo hit, Love. To further promote the album, Cole was a star of the show in her own six-episode reality show, Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is.
In 2007, the redhead changed her signature spitfire image for a sexy 'blonde' to match her next compilation, Just Like You. The album debuted at number two on the Billboard chart, selling about 281,000 copies in its first week. Just Like You has been certified platinum in the United States, sold 2,116,320 copies worldwide and is still climbing.
Biggest hit
The first single, Let It Go featuring Lil' Kim and Missy Elliott became Cole's first number one on Billboard's R&B chart and her biggest hit on the Hot 100, peaking at number seven.
Her second single Shoulda Let You Go, along with her collaboration with mega star Sean 'Diddy' Coombs Last Night, did equally well and remains a club banger to date. Keyshia's current release, I Remember, is her second number one on the Billboard R&B charts.
In conjunction with her album release, BET began airing the second season of Cole's reality show Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is on October 30, 2007. The show premiered to record-breaking ratings for BET, which is the top-returning series premiere in the channel's history, as well as the number one original series premiere of the year.
