The Editor, Sir:The inclusion of vulgar images of scantily dressed females in outlandish positions on advertising posters appears to be on the increase in our cities and towns.
These posters are generally placed at prominent locations along main roads in clear view of all - adults and children alike. I shudder each time I approach a well-covered (with posters) utility pole or wall when my children are with me. There is no telling what will be there for all to see.
shame on them
Shame on the females who pose for these photo shots, shame on those who capture these offensive images and display them without discrimination, shame on our authorities for allowing this practice for so long, shame on us for not speaking out against this loathsome practice!
A few questions spring to mind:
1. Can anyone randomly advertise what, how, when and where he/she likes?
2. Does the anti-litter law speak to the defacing of public property?
3. Since details of the social events being advertised are generally stated on the posters, could this lead to appropriate sanctions placed on those responsible?
We must begin to chisel away at the things that are causing the swift moral decay in our nation.
I am, etc.,
