The Editor, Sir:I wish to take this opportunity to commend Prime Minister Bruce Golding and Minister Olivia Grange for formally implementing the Jamaica House call-in programme, thus allowing Jamaican citizens both locally and internationally to call into the programme and speak directly to the prime minister on whatever issue of their choice. This programme which is held on a monthly basis is the first such one to be held in he Caribbean and this innovative idea is commendable, in my view.
The programme is professionally managed and directed by Minister Grange and has turned out to be a huge success. Prime Minister Golding is always forthright with his answers to the callers and always willing to assist those callers who have specific concerns and issues that need to be dealt with in a constructive manner.
Since being elected to government last year, Mr Golding has clearly demonstrated that he will operate an honest, transparent and accountable government to the direct interest of the Jamaican people. I do look forward to the prime minister's Budget presentation later this month. So far, Mr Golding has been professional and I am impressed with his performance since last year October. Keep up the sterling work, Mr Golding.
I am, etc.,
