NATIONAL LEGSPIN bowler Odean Brown produced a mesmerising spell last weekend to carry the St Catherine Saints to maximum points over the Kingston Tigers at Sabina Park.

His match-haul of 11-65 led the Saints to the Super League's first outright victory this season, a 10-wicket win over the Tigers.

Brown, who has so far played 16 first-class matches for Jamaica, took 5-42 in the first innings as the Tigers were sent packing for 140.

The legspinner, who bowled 25.4 overs, got the breakthrough when he removed Domaine Wilson, 32, and Christie Jones (20) at 76-2. Later, he returned for two wickets in the middle, then mopped up the tail. On Sunday, when things looked in favour of the batsmen, Brown, as determined as he always is, never allowed them to settle and before the hosts knew what had hit them, the spinner was dominating.

In the end, he took as the Tigers folded for a mere 108 in their second innings. Domaine Wilson with 43 was the only batsman to show any resistance against Brown.

Earlier, the Saints had made 245 in their first innings.
