published: Saturday | April 5, 2008

The Jamaica Netball Association (JNA) Berger Paints Super League competition heats up today with four matches at the Leila Robinson Courts.

In the day's feature game, Open Rally champion Tivoli Gardens 'A', battle Windalco starting at 6:15 p.m. In the day's other games, starting at 7:30 p.m. Arnett Gardens oppose newcomers Molynes United 'A', who have yet to win a game from four starts, defending champion Jamalco entertain Tivoli Gardens 'B' and Police 'A' take aim at Jetsetters 'A'.

Tivoli Gardens 'A', who earlier won the Open League rally title, are seeking their fourth consecutive victory of the season. Sylvester Campbell, coach of the West Kingston-based team, said he is expecting a competitive game from his opponent.

good encounter

"It is going to be a very good encounter because Windalco have been playing pretty well and they are also a very competitive team," said Sylvester Campbell, Tivoli's coach.

"We are confident that we can win this competition because we won the Open League rally title earlier and I definitely think that we have the depth in our squad to do it," Campbell explained.

Tivoli Gardens' charge will once again be led by their inspirational goal shooter, Cleopatra Grant, along with national goal defence Kasey Evering and centre Peter-Gaye Thomas.

Windalco, have won their last two matches and according to coach Winston Nevers, he is expecting a tough game.

"We are coming to play good netball because we are going up against the best team in the country and they also have a very strong defensive area," said Nevers.

"We are going to play fast and swift netball and hope that our shooters Diana Millwood and Viola Francis will convert all of our goals."

He added: "Our defensive third is a bit weak at this time and so we are going to base our strength in our attacking third."
