The Florida-based Seafreight Agencies, with local office located in the Newport West shipping community, has been named '2008 Firm of the Year' by Florida Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association (FCBF) board of directors.

Seafreight Agencies was selected from over 300 logistics industry companies, by a panel of its peers from the industry. This is the first time that Seafreight has received this honour since it was established 15 years ago.

"In this transportation business, a truck is a truck, a container is a container, a ship is a ship, however, our philosophy is that we are in the 'people business' and our goal is to understand what our clients are looking for to fill their needs and we try to build a service that can assist them with achieving this," David Ross, executive vice-president of Seafreight Agencies explained.

He noted that this award indicates that the measures implemented by the agency have been working. "We strongly believe that our level of service (customer and schedule) is what distinguishes us from our competitors. Our schedule integrity is the basis of any service we build. Our client relations are paramount in establishing new ventures, we listen to their needs," Ross pointed out.

Ross added that Seafreight Agencies will continue to expand its services by adding new ports and services while seeking cost-effective methods to keep clients competitive in the market place.

Unparalleled commitment

The 'firm of the year' award is presented to select companies which demonstrate unparalleled commitment to customer satisfaction, quality services, and dedication to preserving and expanding successful professional partnerships with its customers, partners and associations.

The FCBF located in Florida was established in 1960 and is the most influential and active representative body of the Florida freight forwarding and customs brokerage community.

Kingston is a main hub for Seafreight line and home port to three vessels at Kingston Wharves which are used to feed cargo to various ports in the agency's network.

Seafreight Agencies is represented in Jamaica by Seafreight Jamaica Limited, CEO Harry Maragh, with office located at 2 Seventh Avenue New Port West Kingston 15, telephone numbers 876-923-5541-4.
