Bible word challenged
published: Saturday | April 12, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

It is refreshing that the issue of 'gayness'/homosexuality is being allowed to have its exposure. It is a start in the appropriate direction. While the Bible is a succinct and wise document setting out the 'ideal way' for humans to behave within the context of a social milieu, it is simply an uni-dimension presciption; its main purport being to set out rules of conduct based upon the beliefs of those who are responsible for writing these precepts down.

It is not the word of God! It was not written by God! It was written by individuals claiming to be inspired by God to import their own dislikes and likes on the polity.

female

Furthermore, given the times when the Bible(s) was/were written, I doubt if any female was involved in the project, since it would have been unheard of for a woman to be anything, and do anything else, but being the vassal of the 'lord/tyrant of the cave/manor'.

If God had any part in this social construct, then this is not the God that I am familiar with, and whom I wish to worship, by no means.

There is not really a big difference between the arguments used to separate the races and those being applied against homosexuals. It is equally revolting, yet similar, when members of the KKK, for example, cloak themselves behind white sheets and lynch a 'black' person.

I am, etc.,
