Males: your date with destiny
published: Saturday | April 12, 2008

1. Allowing your date to pay for her meal

Do: [30%] Don't: [70%]

"Normally on the first date, you would want to make a good impression, so as a male, I usually pay for the meal," says Duran.

"If she has a lot of money and she wants to pay for the meal, I don't see anything wrong with allowing her to do so," says Stephen.

2. Discussing past relationships

Do: [50%] Don't: [50%]

"I don't think a first date is enough time to know somebody, and so I don't usually discuss past relationships then," says Peter.

3. Using terms of endearment such as 'baby', 'sweetie', 'honey', etc, to address your date

Do: [70%] Don't: [30%]

"This is something that I do naturally, so I don't think I would discontinue doing so because I am on a first date," says Roger.

4. Asking for another date

Do: [45%] Don't: [55%]

"No, I wouldn't. This will just make me look desperate; she can ask me for the second one," says Mark.

5. Kissing at the end of the date?

Do: [45%] Don't: [55%]

"Well, if by the end of the night I feel she is okay and her character is good, I don't have a problem kissing her," says Mike.

Some guys go on the dating roller coaster for the thrill, just to stay ahead of the game, while conventional love puppies do it to find a lifelong companion. Whatever the reason, there are some dos and don'ts of dating for males.

We asked 20 males whether these rules apply to them on a date.
