Plant more to feed the nation
published: Friday | April 18, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

Today, with crime spiralling out of control and food prices running close behind, our current politicians are revisiting the vision of self-reliance that Michael Manley held some thirty plus years ago. I believe it was an excellent idea then and a crisis solution now.

I have always held the ideologies and principles of Michael Manley dear. I believe he loved the people more than the power of the political office.

Much regards to the minister in his effort to offset the nation's food bill and feed the nation. I encourage Jamaicans in all parishes, especially Kingston, to use whatever land they have available and plant something to reduce their grocery bills. In fact, the meal is more appreciated and tastes better when we eat what we grow.

I am, etc.,

MICHAEL GRANT
