The Editor, Sir:
I enjoyed reading Mark Dawes' April 21 piece on the Jamaica Broilers' Group and the Christian spirit operating within the company. Please allow me to publicly express heartiest con-gratulations to Jamaica Broilers and President Robert Levy on their 50th anniversary now being celebrated.
I am especially impressed by their motivation to impact the nation through Christian influence, as evidenced by their past spon-sorship of Fun in the Son, and their current investment in the 50 Fest.
Payback mode
In a church service two Sundays ago, I heard that the 50 Fest sponsorship is to the tune of $71 million. I found it very encouraging and inspirational that a for-profit company in our nation would take such an expensive lead in promoting godliness, especially through our entertainment media, which have been so sullied by lewdness.
On reflection, I realised that one could call this Jamaica Broilers' year of jubilee, and their latest investment in the nation is comparable to that return of property to original owners which was mandated in the Jewish Year of Jubilee. In this analogy the property would be dollars and the original owners would be consumers.
Whatever the rationale, as a Jamaican I want to add my own thanks to whatever gratitude might already have been expressed, because many companies operating in Jamaica are always on the take; they never go into payback mode. So, Jamaica Broilers, hats off to you, and may God use your anniversary 50 Fest to bring about more good than you had even envisioned.
I am, etc.,
