Under-15 themes are teamwork, discipline
published: Wednesday | April 30, 2008

Robert Bailey, Freelance Writer

STEWART STEPHENSON, president of the Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA), says the theme for this year's Under-15 competition will be teamwork and discipline.

Stephenson told The Gleaner following Monday's launch of the competition, at the head office, of sponsors, Shipping Association of Jamaica (SAJ), that "this year we will emphasis discipline and teamwork because this association is all about football development in this country".

Stephenson said the event formed part of KSA-FA's age group development programme.

Build players

"This is a way in which we build our players and prepare them for the senior competition and, ultimately, national teams," he said.

Twenty-five teams have entered the competition which will be broken down into zones. It starts this Saturday and Harbour View are the defending champions.

SAJ is in its fourth year of sponsorship and, according to president Michael Bernard, his company is committed to the development of youth football.

"We know that this is a building block for future Jamaican players," said Bernard.

"We are showing a consistent commitment to a worthwhile programme of sports and character development of our youths. And in this regard, I want to thank all who have again come onboard to support this programme," he said.
