Remembering Collie Smith

Boys' Town will celebrate the 75th birthday of late Jamaica and West Indies cricketer Collie Smith on Monday.

The celebration, to be held at the Hugh Sherlock Auditorium in Boys' Town, will feature a documentary film on Smith at 3 p.m. and a panel discussion at 5 p.m. Panellists will include Brian Breese, Tony Becca, Easton McMorris among others.

Evening of Classics moved to Hilton hotel

The venue for the concert An Evening of the Classics has been changed to the ballroom of the Hilton Kingston hotel because of the inclement weather.

The event was previously advertised for the lawns of Vale Royal, but organisers have made the decision for a change of venue to ensure the comfort of its patrons.

An Evening of the Classics is a presentation of the Jamaica Early Childhood Development Foundation, a charitable foundation established by Lorna Golding, wife of Prime Minister Bruce Golding, in an effort to raise funds towards the improvement of nurseries and other early childhood institutions.

Among the featured entertainers are musicians from the prestigious Juilliard School of Music in New York, the Immaculate Conception Steel Band and violinists Jessica Yap and Nadje Leslie, Edna Manley School of the Visual and Performing Arts and Peter Ashbourne.

Showtime is 8 p.m.
