Sts Peter and Paul presents 'Starlights'

The Sts Peter and Paul Preparatory School and its Home School Association (HSA) will stage their third annual Starlights showcase this weekend.

Starlights, according to Bertina Macaulay, president of the HSA, is a variety concert which showcases the outstanding talent of students, teachers and parents of the Sts Peter and Paul.

The two-day event, which begins this Saturday at 6 p.m. and continues Sunday at 4 p.m., will be held at the Little Theatre, Tom Redcam Avenue, St Andrew.

The purpose of the showcase is to raise funds for the development of the school and to target the specialist departments of the institution. Areas such as the music and dance departments, which are in need of equipment, will be funded with the proceeds of the event. Macaulay explained that the event will feature just over 100 participants, the majority of which will be students.

Audition process

Unlike a school concert, the students go through an audition process and only the best were chosen. "The standard is extremely good for what you would consider a school concert," Macaulay said.

Students with skill in piano, dance as well as dialect and song will participate in the programme. Some of them are winners in the national festival.

Teachers will perform as a group as well as in solo efforts. Macaulay is expecting a strong turnout for parents, students and supporters of Sts Peter and Paul.

Tickets for the event cost $800 for both adults and children and are available at the administrative office at Sts Peter and Paul and at Little Theatre box office.
