Honouring mothers

All across Jamaica on Sunday, mothers were pampered in fine style by children, spouses and loved ones.

Those who dined at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel in Kingston received musical treats, gifts, flowers and, most important, the love and honour they deserve.

In St Ann, mothers who made the journey to Liberty Hill Great House in Lime Hall were treated to the versatility of American jazz musician Tola Lewis, who sang and played three different instruments during her sets. Chef Dennis McIntosh put his culinary skills into a lavish buffet of Jamaican favourites for brunch.

Up at Mona Visitors' Lodge in St Andrew, the package for mothers included a fashion show and musical entertainment.

Church services

Mothers who turned up at the Sanguinetti New Testament Church of God on Mothers' Day were encouraged by host pastor, Bishop Barrington DaCosta, to turn over their children to God.

In Mandeville, Mother's Day coincided with church services and scores of preachers highlighted the event, while the lay magistrates of Manchester hosted the celebrations.

Entitled 'A tribute to mother' the Lay Magistrates Association of Manchester held their annual garden party at the Golf View Hotel in recognition of these special women.

She is from South Africa but you can hardly tell, as Shirley Young has been totally Jamaicanised by husband Sydney. Both are having a grand time at Liberty Hill Great House on Mother's Day, and look forward to spending the summer with their newest grandchild in London.
