McFarlane, Hammond win in PR

Danny McFarlane and Chelsea Hammond scored wins in the 400 metres hurdles and long jump respectively at the Ponce Grand Prix on Saturday night at the Paquito Montaner Stadium in Puerto Rico.

McFarlane, the 2004 Olympic silver medallist, won the hurdles in 48.77 seconds with another Jamaican, Bryan Steele, sixth in 50.36.

Hammond had a best of 6.59m to take the long jump ahead of American Funmi Jimoh (6.39m) and Colombia's Melissa Valencia, 6.38m. Former national champion Elva Goulbourne was fifth with 6.28m.
