Trinidad and Tobago will provide US$7 million to Haiti to assist the French Caribbean Community country achieve food security, Haiti's Foreign Minister Jean Renald Clerisme has said.

"You know that we have a food crisis in Haiti and you know Trinidad is supporting us in that dire situation. And I had to present (give) thanks on behalf of President Preval," Clerisme told a news conference here.

He said that the financial assistance had been outlined during talks with his Trinidad and Tobago counterpart Paula Gopee-Scoon.
