Technology as aid to education
published: Friday | May 23, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

As a first-form student at Calabar High School, I realise that entertainment and technology can play a very important role in educating society at large. Although technology is very common, I don't believe it's being used to achieve maximum benefit in Jamaica.

The word 'technology' is associated with radios, videos, telephones and computers. Even more fascinating are cellular phones, mp4 players, game systems and so on. I believe that if technology is integrated in education, learning can be enhanced. Students will be more interested in education and this would solve the problem of illiteracy.

My vision and suggestion for the Government is to create more educational games, videos and music. I must commend all the producers who are already using technological aids to improve education.

I am, etc.,
