Storm in a teacup ... and more!
published: Friday | May 30, 2008

Pulse model Nell Robinson appears in the March edition of American 'Cosmo'. - Contributed

My dears, it's the storm in a teacup and nothing but! Suffice it to say, that personal prejudices have no business guiding public policy.

But such were the comments that they have elicited all kinds of anecdotal chit-chat and or questions on the social swirl, with the overriding consensus that has emerged being there is obviously more to the Cabinet than meets the eye! Anyway ,my dears, we pray and party on, as they say in this neck of the woods: "We have no dog in this fight", so there!

Now my daahlings, it's all systems go for Busha Clarke's crab-fest tomorrow at his fabulous beach house and estate in Savanna-la-Mar. Last year my dears, they served up over one hundred dozen crabs, and with the expectations being that they will top that number come tomorrow, y'all know we are talking the biggest crab-fest anywhere in the world!

Pumpkins, it is a must-attend, with the preferred resort for those overnighting being Hedonism II, and or Grand Lido Negril, just up the ways a bit from party central!

Caribbean FashionWeek buzz

And so, the fabulous Sandra Kennedy of Chad designing fame is all set to return to her fabulous designing ways for this year's staging of the Pulse-sponsored, staged and managed Caribbean Fashionweek (CFW) set to kick off June 11.

And, my dears, the buzz is all around the question: will fashion and designing mogul Ralph Lauren put in an appearance at this year's CFW? The buzz out of London is to expect a British contingent of fashionistas, designers, aficionados and party animals to come to Kingston for the Caribbean's hottest and most fashionable to-do!

British fashion magazine i-D has been touting this year's CFW as one to watch, even featuring some models and designers from the region in a recent issue! Luvs, it is indeed the fashion event of the season bar none and this here scribe wouldn't miss it for all the rugs in Persia!

Anyway my dears, the absolutely happening model Nell Robinson, is all set to jet in to this capital for CFW 2008, fresh from her appearance at the Life Ball in Austria, the world's largest AIDS inspired fundraiser, attended by celebs and social activist from the world all over.

Dears, the buzz is this was one fine outing that saw more female impersonators (drag queens) in attendance and impersonating some of their favourite musical icons! Luvs, the fab Nell will be in town next week, and she will definitely be dishing the 411, so wait for her.

Meanwhile, her cousin, Christian Tavares-Finson, the strikingly handsome son of senator Tom Tavares-Finson and his first wife, former Miss World Cindy Breakspeare, is all set to follow his esteemed dad into the legal profession come this summer, as he is set to wrap up his studies in London and return to Jamaica. No bets, but the smart money is that he will be joining the chambers of Tavares-Finson and Company when he decides on entering into the professional fray!

Birthday celebrations

Then, many congrats to the happening Rosemarie Johnson on her appointment as regional director for Jamaica at the Jamaica Tourist Board.

Meanwhile, Edward Seaga and son, Christopher, who share a May 28th birthday, will continue the family celebrations tomorrow.

Belated greetings to famed broadcaster and elocutionist Fae Ellington, who also celebrated on the 28th. The charming Jannieve Jackson celebrated yesterday, the 29th at her New York home.

Then, the fab Valerie Juggan-Brown of Guardsman Group, celebrates her birthday on June 8. The celebrations will commence this Friday, however, and invites are already out. So, if you are not yet in receipt of one, it means you are not expected.

Now, all is in place for Lloyd Jackson's 50th in Florida, and this one promises to be a blast before the Jamaican-born American diplomat takes up his new post in Afghanistan.

And it is now a joint celebration, with the celebrated Peter Fraser and long-time friend, Luciana Muneri, and hubby Charles Muneri who will join him for his safari milestone, as she too will be marking her own very special day!

Plus, the stunning Karen Stephens is positively glowing after attending the International Beauty Show in New York, where she shared a few beauty and fashion tit-bits with famed beauty consultant Reggie Wells, (Oprah Winfrey's beauty consultant).
