Amnesty should 'butt out'
published: Saturday | May 31, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

It is in my opinion as a law-abiding citizen of Jamaica in all fairness that Amnesty International should 'butt out' and allow the police and security forces to do their job effectively and efficiently.

We need to deal with the heartless criminals and I strongly believe that capital punishment should be implemented.

Not paying for criminals

I remember hearing a man in a bus saying he is not afraid to kill because he had just come out of prison and was not afraid to go back.

Well, I am a taxpayer and prisoners do not deserve my money to feed them in prison, my money is for golden age homes, children homes and charitable organi-sations. I am not heartless, but it is time we respect the laws of the land .

The police and other arms of the security forces play an important role in society; they are to serve and protect not collect and kill. The unruly ones need to be disciplined or put out of the force.

Amnesty International and Jamaicans for Justice don't know how it feels until they become a target or fall prey to these heartless criminals which can be sooner or later.

I am, etc.,

K. KNIGHT
