Tourism affected
published: Tuesday | June 10, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

With regard to the effect on Jamaica's tourism, I think it's going to go down a great deal. I feel sad to say that because of the dramatic increase in violent crime my family and I are not going to spend the summer in the land we love.

Love jamaica

Since the year 2000, we have been spending our summers in Jamaica travelling to all the parishes, spending time in the countryside and swimming off the beaches and in the rivers. We love Jamaica, the land and the people.

So my heart is heavy when I say we will not be spending our summer there this year; instead we will be in Maine dreaming about our summers in Jamaica and praying that the crime rate will get better.

I am, etc.,
