Beach bound for summer
published: Saturday | June 14, 2008

School's almost out and thousands of restless teenagers throughout Jamaica are hungry for fun after months of examination torture.

With summer officially one week away, the beach is a great getaway for tweens and teens in clustered city suburbs and even youths in the countryside who just haven't reserved enough time to truly take a splash. And for tots who might be scared of the water, sand-castle construction is right up their alley.

Here are five super day-out destinations to cool down during sizzling summer.

  • 1 - Surfing at Winnifred Beach in Portland.

  • 2 - Strawberry Fields is a jewel in St Mary's crown.

  • 3 - Splash about at Font Hill Beach in St Elizabeth.

  • 4 - Stingray City is a top attraction at James Bond Beach, St Mary.

  • 5 - Enjoy breathtaking sunsets at any of Negril's beaches.
