Stop playing the blame game
published: Saturday | June 14, 2008

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Whenever something goes wrong, we tend to shift blame from ourselves to another person. It is time we stopped playing the blame game and focused on moving forward. Evidently this is what has been going on between political parties. We see the ruling party blaming the former party for not being able to fulfil campaign promises. On the other hand, the previous government is blaming the ruling party for not having the people's best interest at heart. Both parties are hurling hurtful words and accusing each other, demonstrating their lack of respect for each other. However, this uncalled for behaviour does not benefit us Jamaicans.

Results

We need to see results, also discipline, unity and togetherness. Our leaders need to find common ground and show us that together they can work to elevate the country. United as a country we can stand, but if we are divided we shall surely fall. We cannot isolate ourselves from each other because in reality no man stands alone, we need each other.

There is no need to bring up what took place in the past. Let the past remain the past, for we cannot erase it; we need to utilise our brains and find creative ways to move forward. It does not matter which party rules, what matters most is the best interest of our people and how we can move forward as a country. We are tired of seeing political parties blaming each other; we have more important issues to address.

Stop all finger-pointing and start acting, there is always room for improvement.

I am, etc.,
