NOTE-WORTHY: Historian project
published: Tuesday | July 1, 2008

Historian project

I am a professional African-American historian who is currently living in Cincinnati, Ohio. I am doing research about the popular journalist and historian Joel Augustus Rogers, better known as J.A. Rogers (1880-1966).

I would like to know if there are any living descendants from the paternal side of his family - Samuel Rogers still living in St Ann's Bay or any part of Jamaica that I could possibly talk to about Joel's siblings - family history. J.A. Rogers did not have any children. If you could help me in this process. I would be most grateful.

Helping children

I read the article about the sisters helping the motherless children. How can I assist in helping these sisters raising these children?

I have three girls of my own and based on the pictures, I probably have clothes that can fit those children or other forms of contribution I can make, even to make their life a little better.

Or you could get in touch with those sisters so I could arrange with my family in Jamaica to assist them.

Regional pipelines

It's time for us to look at energy needs on a regional basis. Why has no move been made to have pipelines transporting oil around the region?

There could be a line running up through Panama and the Isthmus, across to Cuba - branch to Jamaica, Puerto Rico down through the Lesser and Greater Antilles, Trinidad, etc.

Sibling parents

I read this piece 'Siblings as parents' in the Monday Gleaner about a young lady who was raised by her six brothers. I would like to get in touch with her. Maybe to be her email pal, not pen pal.
